For Mark’s, support for the Motorcycle Ride for Dad began a decade ago, in Mark's Work Wearhouse stores in Ontario. The reason why the fight against Prostate Cancer is so important to Mark’s is as obvious today as it was then. Dads built the company. Mark’s would never have gotten off the ground in 1977, let alone made it across the prairies to Ontario, were it not for men. So it was, and still is, seen as the ideal way to give back to these VIP’s. Mark’s phenomenal growth since those early days has mirrored that of the Ride’s. Both are now national organizations with thousands of people in their ranks. And Mark’s obsession with clothing innovations and its resulting climb to become the leading retailer in many men’s and women’s clothing categories has enabled it to do more for the cause with each passing year. Indeed, in the past five years as title sponsor of the Ride, it has donated well over a million dollars. And this year alone, to celebrate the Ride’s tenth year of operation, the donation will be in excess of $300,000. But that’s just the hard cash, along with it goes countless hours of work by Mark’s staff across the country, at head office and in all 380 stores to ensure all customers are aware of the Ride, and what they can do to support the fight against Prostate Cancer. |
