Prarie Stage

The Prairie Stage is the sixth stage of our journey across Canada to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Motorcycle Ride for Dad’s fight against prostate cancer, and to show support for our troops. It begins where the Northern Ontario Stage dropped us off, still deep in the bush at Kenora on the shores of beautiful Lake of the Woods. As we push off to the west, that scenery is about to change and change drastically !

We will emerge from the rocks and forests of Ontario and over the next four days track steadily north west to the top of Alberta. We will hit all of the major cities of the Prairie Provinces any many smaller ones as well. At just halfway through Day #1 we will be at the geographic centre of Canada. Eighteen days and we’re at the middle ! By noon of the first day we’ll be in Winnipeg, we’ll gather and parade into CFB Winnipeg and also meet our Manitoba Chapter. While in Winnipag we’ll get a chance to cruise through Canada’s most famous intersection, Portage & Main. After that it’s due west to Brandon Manitoba for the night.

Day two takes us west until we drop south off the Trans-Canada and swing west again overland on Hwy#2 & Hwy #13 to Weyburn Saskatchewan. Angling northwest we arrive In Moose Jaw and the home of the Forces precision flying team, the Snow Birds. We flip back east for a short stint to head into Regina and a visit to the RCMP training school at Depot. We stay overnight in Regina.

Day three finds us continuing our Northwest trek, to Saskatoon and a lunch meeting with our Saskatoon Chapter. After which we are northwest again to stop at the Alberta border and an overnight at Lloydminster.

Day four, the final day of the Prairie stage starts with a breakfast meeting before we complete our north-west assent arriving in Edmonton, our Tour’s most northernly latitude. We assemble for a parade onto the military base for a ceremony and dinner. We spend the night in Edmonton.

That wraps the Prairie Stage of our tour, over 1500 km that has taken us from the forests of Ontario to the edge of foothills of the Rocky Mountains! We stand on the verge of the final and most vertical stage of our tour. The Mountain Stage !
